PENGHARAPAN

Semoga Allah, sumber pengharapan, memenuhi kamu dengan segala sukacita dan damai sejahtera [Roma 15:3]

Pada 5 Agustus 2010, tambang emas dan tembaga di Copiapo, Cile, runtuh. Sebanyak 33 penambang terperangkap. Regu penyelamat yang mencari mereka, nyaris putus asa. Namun, 17 hari kemudian, diketahui bahwa mereka masih hidup walau terperangkap di dalam tambang sedalam 700 meter. Dan, mereka harus sabar menanti hingga 7 minggu, sebelum mesin bor berhasil menembus lubang tempat mereka berlindung.

Ya, manusia bisa bertahan hidup selama 40 hari tanpa makan, 4 hari tanpa minum, 4 menit tanpa bernafas. Namun, manusia tak mampu hidup bahkan selama 4 detik saja, jika ia tak punya semangat dan harapan. Itu sebabnya di tengah himpitan dan tahap awal aniaya terhadap jemaat Roma, Paulus menasihati agar setiap orang percaya bergantung kepada Allah - sumber pengharapan, sukacita, damai sejahtera. Di tengah tekanan sekalipun, Dia sanggup memberi kekuatan dan pengharapan. Maka, yang kuat dapat menolong yang lemah dan lelah. Dengan kerukunan yang demikian, orang-orang beriman itu memuliakan Allah.

Ketika dunia menganggap 33 penambang Cile itu pahlawan, dengan keras Henriques - salah satu dari mereka - menolaknya. katanya, "Kita bukan pahlawan, dan jika ada pahlawan, itu adalah semangat yang diberikan Tuhan, yang membuat kami bertahan". Ternyata, semasa di dalam tambang ia membacakan sejumlah ayat Alkitab kepada teman-temannya, untuk menjaga semangat mereka.

Mari jalani hidup ini dengan penuh semangat. Apalagi untuk melakukan tugas sebagai saksi Kristus: memberkati dan menolong banyak orang di sekitar kita yang hidup dalam keputusasaan.

HIDUP DIBERI AGAR DIJALANI DENGAN PENUH ARTI MAKA TUHAN MENYALAKAN SEMANGAT AGAR KITA MENJADI BERKAT.
